Kalamazoo Rod and Gun Club COMPETITIONS |

The club has air rifle
and pistol target shooting every Thursday evening
starting in January and ending the last week in March. Any air gun that
shoots pellets cal,177, 20mm and 22 are allowed but we do not allow BB,s
as they often bounce back. We shoot at eight novelty targets and one team
shoot per night. We also have one 50/50 target. The cost for the eight
targets $2.00. We have two starting times, The first is 4:30pm until
done, for people that can not make the late shoot. The next shoot starts
at 7:00pm and runs until every person has finished their targets. Usually
about 9:00pm we allow any type air rifle or pistol with any sight
configuration, open or scope. The shoot is open to all members and non
members any age. Young children must be accompanied by an adult. If you do
not own an air gun, come out anyway as there is always someone that
will let you use theirs. We have a room with a fire place for the person
that does not shoot. The club has a policy that all shooters wear safety
glasses, that we have on hand.

Trapshooting
and Five Stand Clays for 2009
Trap and Five Stand will shoot on Wednesday’s this year. We will start the
season on April 1st at 4:00pm with trap and continue until every group has
finished. We start five stand on April 8th and alternate each week through
September between trap and five stand. We also shoot a short course for small
gauge shotguns on the trap range. The cost is $4.00 for 25 clays. Public
Invited!

Sporting Clays for 2009
We shoot the first Sunday of the month (except October, November, and December) starting at 9am. Weather permitting in January, February, and March. If the temp. is below 20 degrees at starting time we will not shoot.
A big Pancake, Eggs, and Sausage breakfast is served in the clubhouse from 7:30am to 9:00am prior to shooting for a cost of $4.00.
We start shooting at 9:00am and run to 1:00pm. There will be no sign-up after 1:00pm. The first three months we shoot a 25 bird course at five stations for $5.00. In April we start a 50 bird course at eight stations for $10.00. We would like to limit group size to not more than five people. Especially if there are small children in the squads. Safety Glasses and Hearing protection are required!
Please turn in score cards after you shoot. Coffee and Rolls are available for a donation and Pop is for sale. For safety ALL ranges are closed to general shooting until this event is over and the Range Officer opens the club to shooting again (usually by 2pm).


Bowling Pin Shooting for 2009
We will have our first shoot on Saturday April 18th, starting at 9:00am to about 1:00pm. The schedule for the rest of 2009 is as follows: May 2nd, 16th & 30th, June 13th & 27th, July 11th & 25th, August 8th & 22nd, and September 5th and 19th.
Any handgun semi-auto and revolver, 9mm and up can be used. We have five positions from 30 feet to 50 feet with five bowling pins at each position. The semi-auto can use two magazines with seven rounds in each and the revolvers can load twice. This is a timed event and is strictly for fun. Any type of sights are allowed. Safety Glasses and Hearing protection required. When not shooting you will be asked to be time keeper and safety officer for one of the shooters. After you have shot, when the person in charge gives the order, you go down range and reset pins for the next shooter.
We also have two stations for .22 cal. Handguns, with ten cut-off pins. The cost for one round is .50 cents. Re-entry is .50 cents. The 9mm and up is $4.00 and re-entry is $2.00. This is fired on the special use lower range. This shoot is open to the public and all club members. In case of storm we may cancel the event for that day.


Action Pistol Shooting for 2009
Every Thursday evening starting May 7th, 5:30pm till dusk. Public Welcome and bring your husband, wife or a friend! Beginner Friendly!
This shoot is for FUN! Always looking for people interested in shooting this event.
We will be shooting at cardboard I.D.P.A. targets. Some will be from behind cover, while moving, kneeling, sitting and several different positions.
Safety first! Please know how to use your gun safely. Safety Glasses and Hearing protection required.
All you need is a pistol in good working condition, extra magazines, and mag. holder, strong side holster, and 100 rds. Ammo. You may use a concealment garment (long shirt, coat, etc.) This is not required. No shoulder or cross draw holsters allowed. The type of guns used are what you would use carrying a concealed weapon. This shoot will be timed and scored. Shooter’s will be asked to help set-up, paste targets, and clean-up. There will be a $3.00 donation per shooter. Sighting Shots: Three sighters will be taken prior to the start of the 1st stage (off-hand). Two sighters will be taken prior to the start of the 4th stage
(slow prone). Sighters may be fired from any position (rule 5.13). No other sighters will be taken.
Classification: Current NRA Highpower Rifle Classification system will be used.
No Refires: Rule 9.12 will apply.
Scoring: Competitors will be required to score targets on the frames.

Match open to all U.S. Citizens 16 years or older. You do not need to be a member of KRGC or the NRA.

Course of Fire: The CMP John C. Garand "Course A" will be utilized. All firing will be conducted at 200 yards on the SR target.

INDOOR 22 CALIBER PISTOL
The Kalamazoo Rod & Gun Clubhouse is open to members to shoot indoor 22 caliber pistol starting in December.
Range time is every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm to 9:00pm. This is basic pistol marksmanship and bulls-eye pistol shooting using 22 caliber pistols.
New shooters are welcome to come out and learn the skills and fundamentals of pistol marksmanship.
Range fees are $4.00, eye and ear protection are required.

.22 Rifle/Air Rifle Metallic Silhouette for 2009
May 14 & 28, June 11 & 25, July 9 & 23, and August 6 & 20
begins in May, with eight matches on alternate Thursdays, concluding in August.
A forty shot course is fired from the standing position, ten shots at each distance of 40, 60, 77 and 100 meters. Metal cutout targets of chickens (40),
pigs(60), turkeys(77) and rams(100) are shot with scoped .22lr rifles using standard or high velocity ammo--no hyper velocity allowed,
as it can damage the targets.
NRA rules are loosely followed, with Standard Rifle category(10 lb., 4 oz. rifle/scope limit), and Hunter Rifle category(8 1/2 lb. rifle/scope limit)
used for competition and prizes. The firing time is five minutes for each ten shot stage, with targets fired on consecutively, left to right.
Prize money is given from entry fees, currently $5 per rifle/category.
The rifle range is used, with set up starting about 5:30 p.m. and firing concluding around 8:30 p.m.
Air Rifle Silhouette will run along side of the .22 course. So bring your air rifle and .22 rifle.

JUNIOR RIFLE PROGRAM / TEAM
The Junior Program takes beginners from about age 10 & teaches the proper use
and care of rifles. Then we proceed to how to shoot competitively.
The Junior’s shoot every other Monday evening. For more information contact

8th Annual Youth Shooting Day
9:00am Saturday September 12, 2009
This event is sponsored by: Pheasants Forever, The Ruffed Grouse Society, and the Kalamazoo Rod and Gun Club. There is NO cost for participants up to 18 years of age. Activities include: Trapshooting, Air Rifle, .22 Rifle as well as a drawing for a youth model shotgun and other gifts. A selection of firearms will be available for all participants to use. Police Pistol Combat Match
Revolver and Semi Auto 1500, Team Matches, Distinguished Matches
DATE: Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2, 2009
TIMES: Registration will start at 8:00am each morning. Matches/firing will start
at approximately 9:00am, 10:15am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:15pm, and 3:30pm.
LOCATION: Kalamazoo Rod and Gun Club, 7533 North Sprinkle Road, Kalamazoo, MI.
Range is approximately 6 miles north of I-94 on Sprinkle Ave.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to Law Enforcement, Corrections and Security Personnel. Open
to civilians and MPCPA members. This is a National Rifle Association registered
PPC match.
ADVANCE ENTRIES: Reservations – Entries prior to July 1 will receive squadding
preference. Entries may be made by using the enclosed entry form with the
appropriate fee. Pre registration is suggested but not required. Return entry

REGISTRATION FEE: $10.00 registration fee
MATCH ENTRY FEE: $30.00 for the first 1500 aggregate, $20 for the 2nd 1500
aggregate. Team Matches are $5.00 per person. Distinguished Auto and Revolver
matches are $15.00 each.
RULES: Current National Rifle Association Police Pistol Combat Rules will apply.
FIREARMS: Open Class Police Revolver (rule 3.2): revolver chambered to fire
center fire cartridges, barrel length not to exceed 6 inches, sights may be
fixed or adjustable, hooded or telescopic sights prohibited. Single action
trigger pull must be at least 2.5 pounds. All standard safety features of the
pistol must operate properly. Prohibited is any system of recoil control
including barrel venting or porting and/or compensators.
Any center-fire pistol (Open Class Semi-Automatic Pistol) (rule 3.3) Center fire
pistols of .35 caliber or larger, barrel not to exceed 6 inches, sights may be
fixed or adjustable. Hooded or telescopic sights prohibited. Trigger pull not
less than 3.5 pounds single action. All standard safety features of the pistol
must operate properly. Prohibited is any system of recoil control including
barrel venting or porting and/or compensators. All double action semi-automatic
pistols must fire the first shot of every match double action.
Questionable equipment will be governed and decided by the match director, per
NRA rulebook.
EQUIPMENT AND AMMUNITION: Ammunition will be of hand-loaded or factory loaded 32
caliber or larger. No high speed or magnum ammo will be allowed. No cross draw
holsters allowed. Current NRA rules in section 3 of the Police Pistol Combat
Rule Book will apply. Questionable equipment or ammunition will be decided by
the match director, per NRA rulebook. Eye protection and hearing protection is
mandatory.
TARGETS: Official NRA B-27 silhouette target.
CHALLENGES: Challenges will be handled by the Match Director. Challenge fees
will be $3.00.
CLASSIFICATION: NRA PPC classification system will apply. Classification must be
declared at the time of registration. If there are less than four (4)
competitors per classification, those competitors will move up one
classification for awards only. Unclassified shooters are required to compete in
the High Master Class. Team Matches will be classified according to rule 19.12.
COURSE OF FIRE: NRA National Police Course.
Match 1: Two stages of 12 shots fired double action from the standing without
support, First stage fired at 7 yards, second stage fired at 15 yards. 20
seconds per stage from a holstered position.
Match 2: 6 shots kneeling, 6 shots standing left hand with support (barricade),
6 shots standing right hand with support (barricade), 90 seconds from a
holstered position. All shots double action.
Match 3: 6 shots sitting, 6 shots prone, 6 shots left hand supported
(barricade), 6 shots right hand supported (barricade). Time allowed = 2 minutes
45 seconds from a holstered position. All shots fired from 50 yards single or
double action.
Match 4: Two stages of 12 shots each, fired double action, standing without
support, 25 yards, 35 seconds for each stage from a holstered position.
Match 5: NRA Police Course, stage 1: 12 shots fired double action from the
standing without support, 7 yards, 20 seconds from a holstered position. Stage
2: : 6 shots kneeling, 6 shots standing left hand with support (barricade), 6
shots standing right hand with support (barricade), 90 seconds from a holstered
position. All shots double action. Stage 3: 6 shots sitting, 6 shots prone, 6
shots left hand supported (barricade), 6 shots right hand supported (barricade).
Time allowed = 2 minutes 45 seconds from a holstered position. All shots fired
from 50 yards single or double action. Stage 4: 6 shots fired double action,
standing without support from the 25 yard line, 12 seconds.
Match 6: Aggregate of matches 1 through 5.
TEAM MATCHES
Team Matches will be non-fired matches and must be declared at the time of
registration, prior to firing the match. Scores from Match 5 individual course
will be used.
DISTINGUISHED MATCHES
Revolver and Semi Auto distinguished matches will be shot throughout each day.
Each competitor will fire the National Police Course (Match 5). All rules
regarding Distinguished matches will be enforced. Triggers will be weighed.
AWARDS: Awards will be provided by the NRA and the match sponsor. There will be
a drawing for a FIREARM(S)
FACILITIES: There are twelve uncovered firing points with turning targets. The
firing line is sand/grass. There are porta potties and drinking water available.
